SHRN Condemns Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt for Transforming Political Competition into Violence

Jan 29, 2013

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – The Syrian Human Rights Network condemned the acts of violence witnessed in Egypt after the Muslim Brotherhood transformed peaceful political competition over power into political violence and armed conflict across Egypt.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Network said that some members of the international community purposefully created a governing force in Egypt that commits human rights violation in the name of the "Arab spring" and religion in order to drown Egypt and the whole region in disorder, insurrection, assassination and sabotage, all leading to a civil war.

The statement said that the current events in Egypt are a result of the alleged Arab spring which was orchestrated by the United States to turn the whole region into a battleground for internal conflict rife with violations of human rights and freedom of speech and expression, leading to the death of innocent civilians.

The Network called on human rights organizations and the international community to condemn these violations and those responsible for them and cease their use of double-standards policies, stressing that supporting violence, murder and terrorism violates the international human rights legitimacy, the UN charter and relevant international agreements.
