Decisions to Supervise Return of Syrians from Neighboring Countries, Set Up Mechanisms for Dialogue

Jan 29, 2013

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – Prime Minister, Dr. Wael al-Halqi, issued a decision on forming a subcommittee in each province which will be tasked with setting up necessary mechanisms to call on the national opposition and all political forces to hold consultative and open meetings to discuss issues related to holding the national dialogue conference.

The decision came in light of what has been agreed upon during the Cabinet's sessions on January 8th and 9th, 2013 to set up necessary mechanisms and executive steps to implement the political program to solve the crisis in Syria.

It provides for that the committee will start its mission immediately and will submit regular reports on the outcomes of its communications and consultative meetings to the Prime Minister.

The Premier also issued a decision on forming a committee tasked with supervising the return of Syrian citizens from neighboring countries who were forced to leave their houses and villages under current circumstances.

The decision also provides for facilitating necessary administrative and logistic procedures and following up on their return through border crossings.

The committee will be headed by a representative of the High Commission for Relief and it comprises representatives of the National Security Office, Foreign and Expatriates Ministry, Ministry of Justice, Interior Ministry, Ministry of State for National Reconciliation Affairs and Minister of State for Red Crescent Affairs and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC).
