Cabinet Weekly Session Reviews Current Situation in Syria

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – Prime Minister, Dr. Wael al-Halqi, stressed the importance of direct communication with citizens and meeting the social and economic figures, calling upon ministers to increase their visits to other provinces and listen to the citizens' problems and needs.

The Premier was speaking during the Cabinet's weekly session held on Wednesday which reviewed the current economic and services situation, the latest political developments and the national reconciliation efforts.

Premier al-Halqi called for paying more attention to carrying out services and development projects.

The cabinet hailed the sacrifices of the army and the law-enforcement forces and their achievements on the ground to restore security and stability to Syria.

It underlined the need for cooperation and unity between all spectrums of the Syrian society and the Armed Forces to confront terrorism and protect vital and economic facilities.

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr, Qadri Jamil presented a review on the economic situation and the governmental efforts to meet local needs of food materials and oil derivatives, indicating that the situation is reassuring.

In turn, Minister of State for National Reconciliation Affairs briefed the cabinet on the positive outcomes of Tehran Conference which serve the political process and the national reconciliation in the country through laying stress on rejecting violence and foreign intervention in Syria's affairs.

The cabinet asked the Health, Higher Education, Interior and Defense Ministries to meet their needs of medicine and equipment through locally manufactured products and to import other medicine and medical equipment that are not manufactured locally from the friendly countries.
