DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Eng. Subhi al-Abdullah on Monday discussed with Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Syria Dr. Abdullah Taher Ben Yahia mechanisms of distributing aid to the areas affected by the acts of the armed terrorist groups.
Minister al-Abdullah called for accelerating the pace of aid distribution to help the affected families, stressing that the Ministry seeks, with several sides including FAO, to support these areas and empower their people economically and socially.
He added that the Ministry will cooperate with these sides to implement agricultural projects that help the rural families.
Minister al-Abdullah noted that the initiative of the FAO aims at empowering the rural families and enabling them to achieve food security.
In turn, Yahia expressed the FAO's keenness on supporting the poor families through helping them restore their livelihoods and create income sources.
He highlighted that there are other projects to be implemented in the framework of the humanitarian urgent aid program adopted by the FAO with the aim of enabling poor families to continue their agricultural activities, improve their food security and empowering women who provide for their families.
