HOMS, (SANA) – A joint prayer was held in Fatima al-Zahra'a Mosque in Homs on Saturday to denounce the anti-Islam movie "Innocence of Islam" and the offensive drawings of the Prophet Mohammad, with the participation of religious figures representing all spectrums of the city.
The religious figures affirmed their utter rejection of all attempts to transgress against the Prophet and any religious symbols, stressing the need to respect all religious and urging to unite ranks and embody the noble values of Islam in a civilized and moral manner.
In a statement to the Syrian TV, sheikh Ahmad Sheikho said that this meeting shows that hearts are healing, as the people of Homs came together to show that Syria stands to defend the Prophet Mohammad, unlike Saudi Arabia and Arab Gulf countries who are allied with those who transgress against the Prophet.
Also, popular and civil activities in Homs city organized a gathering to denounce the movie and the offensive drawings, decrying the west's transgressions against the Prophet and saying that the "freedom" lauded by the west is based on oppressing other people.
The participants also voiced their rejection of offending religions and called for respecting freedom of belief and worship.
