President al-Assad Issues Decree on Designating Dr. Wael al-Halqi as Prime Minister

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday issued Decree No. 298 on designating Dr. Wael Nader al-Halqi as Prime Minister.

Premier al-Halqi served as the Minister of Health in the current and former government.

Dr. al-Halqi was born in Daraa,1964. He holds a medical degree from Damascus University in 1987. He served as Director of health care directorate in Jassem city between 1997 to 2000. He became Secretary of Daraa branch for al-Baath Arab Socialist Party from 2000 to 2004.In 2010, he served as Chief of Syria's doctors. He is married with four children.
