DAMASCUS, (SANA) - The People's Assembly approved draft law on combating terrorism during its session on Thursday chaired by Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham.
The Assembly also approved the draft law on demobilizing state workers or employees and depriving them of their wages, salaries and pension rights if charged with committing terrorist acts, joining terrorist groups or providing support to them.
The MPs hailed the law as very urgent under the current circumstances due to the negative impact that terrorism left on the safety of the homeland and citizens as it is one of the main laws in the developed, law-abiding countries.
The session discussed the role of the legislative authority in national reconciliation, especially after establishing a ministry for this purpose.
They also stressed rejection of dialogue with those who got involved in killings, underlining necessity of enhancing national reconciliation.
They also condemned the heinous crime against al-Ikhbariya channel, calling for setting up relief committees to help the families who were driven out of their homes due to the terrorist acts of the armed groups.
The MPs hailed the role of the Syrian army in confronting the terrorist groups.
