Cabinet Approves New Banking Privacy Bill

Mar 09, 2010

Damascus, (SANA)-In its session held on Tuesday chaired by Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Otri, the Cabinet approved a number of bills listed in its agenda.

These bills included a bill on the new banking privacy, invalidating Decree No.34 for the year 2005 to strike a balance between preserving the confidentiality of the agents' assets and deposits and the available facilitations granted to them on the one hand, and the requirements of censorship over safety of the banking and monetary sectors and the fairness of the judiciary on the other.

The Cabinet also approved a bill on licensing a number of cultural dailies and magazines and settling issues related to some licensed dailies.

Moreover, the Cabinet approved a bill on ratifying a memo of understanding signed between Syria and Korea on cooperation in scientific research, bio-technology, animal products, preserving plants and forests and exchanging agricultural products and goods, and a bill on ratifying a memo of understanding signed with the Jordanian government was also approved.

It includes the exchange of data and expertise, training and qualifying cadres in the field of planning in both countries.
