Damascus, (SANA)- The Syrian-Algerian Follow-Up Committee starts Wednesday its first session in Algiers chaired by Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Husni Lutfi and Algerian Delegate Minister in charge of Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel.
In a statement to SANA, Director of Arab Relations at the Ministry of Economy and Trade Ghassan al-Hamoui said that the committee will discuss prospects of developing cooperation between Syria and Algeria in the economic, trade, investment, industrial, cultural and scientific fields.
A number of bills, cooperation protocols and memos of understanding will be on the committee agenda, such as the executive program of the cultural and educational agreement, a cooperation agreement between the Interior Ministries of both countries, a memo of understanding in the fields of specifications and efficiency scrutiny, as well as a memo of understanding between Lattakia Port and one of the Algerian ports.
Al-Hamoui also referred to other bills which will be on the table, including the fields of intercity transport management, irrigation, land reclamation, housing and construction, civil airports, ports and bridges, engineering investments, maritime fishing and agriculture.
The committee will prepare protocols in the field of customs statistics exchange to prevent double taxation and tax evasion, as well as other agreement bills in the domains of social insurance, cinema production and media.
