President Bashar Al-Assad Issues a Number of Legislative Decrees

Damascus, (SANA) _ President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday issued the legislative decree No 25 for the year 2009 on establishing a Ministry of State for Environment Affairs which will tackle the duties and specializations of the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment regarding environmental affairs.

President al-Assad also issued the decree No 187 for the year 2009 stipulating for naming Ahmad Hammoud Younes as Minister of Justice, Tamer Fouad al-Hajji as Minister of Local Administration, General Said Mohammad Sammour as Minister of Interior, Mansour Fadlall Azzam as Minister of Presidential Affiars, Kawkab al-Sabah Mohammad Jamil Dayeh as Minister of State for Environmental Affairs and Rida Adnan Said as Minister of Health.

The President issued the decree No 188 for the year 2009 providing for transferring the Governor of Swieda governorate, Ali Ahmad Mansoura to become the Governor of Aleppo governorate.

His Excellency also issued the decree No 189 for the year 2009 stipulating for naming Malik Mohammed Ali as the Governor of Swieda.

The President issued the decree No 190 for the year 2009 stipulating for nominating Mohammed Nabil al-Khatib as Chairman of the Central Commission of Inspection.

Ahmad Hammoud Younes. He was born in 1950 in Ras al-Maarra (suburb of Damascus). Graduated in law from Damascus University, he was employed in the judiciary and occupied several posts including that of chief of the Economic Security Court of Damascus.

In 1997 he was appointed as chairman of the Central Commission of the Control and Inspection which he accomplished until his appointment as minister of justice. He is married with four children.

20090424-201532.jpgTamer Fouad al-Hajji, born in Homs in 1959. He holds a degree in engineering from Germany, he was Dean of al-Baath the University (Homs), then Chairman of the Homs City Council.

He served as Governor of the Suburb of Damascus until the year 2005 and of Aleppo. Married with four children.

 

20090424-201634.jpgGeneral Said Mohammad Sammour, born in Jable (Syrian coast) in 1950. He holds two degrees: aeronautical science and English Literature.

He is Married with four children.

Mansour Fadlalla Azzam, born in Suweida in 1960. He holds degree in French Literature from Damascus University and a degree in International Relations.

He occupied diplomatic posts at the Foreign Ministry and outside, the last of which was the Secretary of the Republic Presidency. He is Married with three children.

Mrs. Kawkab al-Sabah Mohammad Jamil Dayeh, born in Banias (Syrian coast). Graduated in pharmacy. 

She holds the Ph.D. from Damascus University, Professor at the University of Damascus, the Deputy Minister of Health and Director of the Bureau of health, environment and population in the General Union of Women.

Married with three children.

Director of the ophthalmology hospital in Damascus and Director of the eyes' bank. Chairman of the Scientific Council of Ophthalmology, Vice-President of the Arab Board of Ophthalmology.

Married with three children.
