Indian Bharat Company resumes work at Tishreen thermal plant

Damascus, SANA- Indian Bharat Company resumed work at Tishreen thermal power plant in Damascus countryside on Wednesday after a three-year pause.

Work resumption followed discussions in-depth between Ministry of Electricity and Bharat officials to solve all obstacles faced the work during the last three years and to provide the company with all necessary facilitation, a source at the ministry told SANA.

Bharat started the work on 20 October 2010 executing 7.3 percent of the signed contract, but it stopped on 17 June 2012 after the company’s experts left the country due to terrorist war launched against the country.

Bharat will follow up the implementation of the signed contract with the ministry to expand Tishreen thermal power plant by installing two steam units for power generation with the capacity of 200 megawatt for each, the source added.

The first unit is expected to be put into service in Nov. 2018 and the second during March 2019, the source concluded.
