Russia discusses the crisis in Syria with Iran and Qatar

Moscow, SANA – Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in Syria with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

According to the press office at the Kremlin, the two sides continued in a phone call on Monday the discussions started during the visit of Tamim bin Hamad to Moscow on January 18th, with the two sides discussing pressing issues related to the situation in Syria and agreeing to increase communication to work towards resolving the crisis in Syria.

On a relevant note, the Russian President’s Special Envoy for the Middle East and North Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian the recent developments regarding the political settlement process for the crisis in Syria.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Bogdanov and Abdollahian discussed in a phone call issues related to the crisis in Syria, with the two sides stressing the need for finding a political solution, working towards implementing ceasefire except in areas where there are terrorists, and sending humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.
