Al-Halaqi during Cabinet session: Finding new water sources to resolve water shortages

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet discussed in its weekly session on Tuesday a number of services and economic issues, mainly finding solutions for water shortages and addressing issues related to the public transportation sector.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi affirmed that the government is committed to connecting with all components of society to draw economic and services polices that are based on the reality and citizens’ concerns.

Al-Halaqi called on the ministers for setting fixed dates for meeting citizens to listen to their concerns and resolve them.

He also addressed problems in the public transportation sector, mainly in Damascus and Tartous, which are related non-compliance with fares and driving licenses, in addition to addressing the water shortages in most provinces, particularly Aleppo, Damascus, Sweida, and Hama, which are caused by the prevailing weather conditions, with the Premier stressing the necessity of finding new water sources.

For his part, Justice Minister Najm Hamad al-Ahmad briefed the Cabinet on the results of his visit to Deir Ezzor province.

The cabinet also took the necessary steps to issue a bill on establishing civilian and appeals courts in each province to handle insurance lawsuits, as well as taking the necessary steps to issue a draft law on billing system, in addition to approving granting the General Company for Building and Construction a loan of SYP 500 million.
