De Mistura to visit Iran Sunday to hold talks on Syrian-Syrian dialogue

New York, SANA-The United Nations’ spokesperson Farhan Haq said on Thursday that UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura will visit Iran next Sunday to hold talks with Iranian officials on the Syrian-Syrian meeting, scheduled in Geneva late this month.

Haq told Russian SPUTNIK news agency that de Mistura will continue his consultations in the region to prepare for the meeting, adding that the main purpose of the consultations is to “maintain the momentum of Vienna process.”

UN Security Council adopted on December 18th,2015 resolution no.2254 after US-Russian agreement, which calls for launching a political process to solve the crisis in Syria by  the Syrians themselves.
