Syria demands firm line against terrorist organizations

Damascus, SANA-Syria reiterated commitment to continue fighting terrorists as part of its duties to protect the Syrian citizens, calling on the UN Security Council to take deterrent measures against terrorist organizations and the countries backing them.

This came in two letters the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry addressed to the UN chief and President of the United Nations Security Council complaining about deadly attacks that rocked Aleppo city on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, terrorist organizations fired rocket shells against residential neighborhoods in Aleppo, killing 31 civilians, among them 13 children, 3 women and 15 elderly men and wounding over 135 others.

The ministry said the crime was committed by groups that the West likes to dub as moderate, highlighting the misery of Aleppo city whose locals are subject to killing, starvation and thirst by terrorist organizations denying them access to foodstuffs and water.

“As it vows to continue to carry out its constitutional duties to protect its citizens, the Syrian government calls on the UN to condemn this new crime and to back its efforts to eliminate the scourge of terrorism which threatens the entire region and the world,” the letters added.

The ministry said Syria demands immediate measures by the UN Security Council against terrorist organizations and the countries and states supporting them away from double standards.

Concluding the letters, the ministry said it is important that the United Nations embark on implementing a comprehensive anti-terrorism project in line with the international law and the UN Charter that shuns any explanations or interpretations that some countries-including the United Kingdom, US, France, Austria and Belgium-have invoked recently to encroach upon the Charter.
