Health Ministry and UNICEF sign cooperation plan for 2015 to support health services in areas most in need

Damascus, SANA – Health Ministry and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) signed Cooperation Plan for 2015 valued at USD 38 million that aims at achieving access to high-quality health and nutrition services in all areas, especially groups most in need including children.

Health Minister Nizar Yazaji stressed in a press statement after signing the agreement the importance of strengthening cooperation between the ministry and international organizations involved in health affairs in Syria to be able to continue providing free medical services for all citizens.

In turn, Hanaa Sanjar, UNICEF Resident Representative in Damascus said that the organization is eager to support health policies of the Health Ministry, particularly in the neediest areas and to support the national strategy of nutrition and development of modules and standards for social participation in health care.

Ministry of Health and UNICEF sign bilateral cooperation plan annually.

Last year’s plan was valued at USD 32 million to support health services in the areas most in need.
