Iraq forms a crisis cell and air bridge to help Syria after devastating earthquake

Baghdad, SANA- Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the formation of a crisis cell and setting up an air bridge to transport humanitarian aid to Syria after the devastating earthquake that hit the country at dawn on Monday.

“Under the directive of Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, a crisis cell was formed headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fawad Hussein, and an urgent air bridge was established to transport medical aid and foodstuffs to Syria in coordination with the Red Crescent,” Al-Sumaria website quoted the ministry as saying in a statement.

The statement added that a convoy to transport fuel will head to Syria, indicating that the Prime Minister directed the transfer of logistical aid urgently to the brotherly people of Syria, and that this aid comes to alleviate the suffering of the Syrians as a result of the devastating earthquake that hit Syria.
