winner of Syria’s Reading Challenge participates in finals on Arab level

Damascus, SANA- Winner of Syria’s Reading Challenge, Student Sham Bakkour participated in the final qualifiers for the Arab Reading Challenge initiative held at the level of the Arab world virtually.

Syria participates in the initiative, which was launched by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for the first time.

The seven-year-old student Bakkour, won the qualifying stages of the initiative on the local level beating more than 61 thousand participants from 16 educational areas in all provinces, according to the initiative’s coordinator in Syria, Ali al-Abbas.

Al-Abbas told SANA in a statement that the tests were conducted online through a jury in the UAE, to determine the champion of the reading challenge at the level of the Arab world, hailing the capabilities and abilities of student Bakour.

Student Bakour is in the second grade of the basic education stage in Aleppo.

Following the end of the Arab competition, student Bakour expressed her happiness of winning the first rank in Syria, hoping to obtain the Arab title to make the flag of Syria flies high.

52 countries and more than 21 million students from 96 thousand schools and 134 thousand supervisors participated in the fifth edition of the challenge.
