Almishtaya village is nominated to a UNWTO competition for choosing the best tourist spot

Homs, SANA-Tourism Ministry chose Almishtaya village located at al-Saeh Mountain in Homs western countryside as one of the best Syrian towns to be engaged in a competition organized by a UN organization.

Homs tourism director, Malak Abbas, told SANA reporter that the village was nominated to participate in the competition related to World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as one of the best tourist spots in Syria thanks to its possession of numerous tourist and attractive factors.

“The town embraces the most important Christian monasteries in the Middle East, Patriarchal Monastery of St. George, that dates back to the 6th A.D. It is also considered as a historical, religious and tourist spot, in addition, it overlooks Krak des Chevaliers, and it is famous of its richness in the beautiful landscapes with abundant springs, all these were of the attraction elements”. Abbas added.

Abbas noted to the recreational and promotional activities such as the folk parties and social and religious rituals witnessed at the village throughout the year, in addition to the support presented by the locals and expatriates.
