Lavrentiev: Astana meeting stressed need to completely eliminate terrorist organizations in Syria

Nur-Sultan  , SANA- The special envoy of the Russian President to Syria, head of the Russian delegation to the 17th  international meeting of the A Astana format on Syria ,Alexander Lavrentiev , stressed that the terrorist organizations’ aggressions in Syria have increased in recent months, noting that it was agreed during the meeting on the need to completely eliminate these organizations.

He expressed the positive assessment to the developments in Syria in general in terms of stability, asserting that the latest months have witnessed an escalation in the terrorist attacks , particularly by the remnants of Daesh as they attacked the civilians and the Syrian Arab Army personnel and those who had their files settled , therefore the participants in the meeting  agreed on adopting the appropriate measures to stop these attacks and eradicate  the terrorist organizations in Syria completely.

Lavrentiev clarified that since the convening of the 16th  international meeting last July, great work has been accomplished, as the escalation in Syria has been reduced, and thanks to this positive effect, about 12,000 people in Daraa and more than 10,000 in Deir Ezzor had  their status settled..

Lavrentiev renewed Russia’s demand for the international community, particularly Western countries, to contribute to the reconstruction process in Syria and to support the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland after the state created the necessary conditions ..
