Lattakia Governor inspects damage caused to crops by bad weather

Lattakia, SANA – Lattakia Governor Ibrahim Khodr al-Salem inspected damages caused to the crops in the area of Burj Isaac in Lattakia province due to the bad weather.

The damage in question is estimated at around 100,000 tons of windfall citrus, in addition to 500 plastic greenhouses, 80 of them were destroyed completely.

Al-Salem said that steps were taken to purchase all windfall citrus crops and deliver them to the Storage and Marketing Establishment, which will provide packaging materials needed for this process free of charge, and will also deliver the citrus to Joud and Ugarit juice factories afterwards.

The Governor also said that he is coordinating with the Agriculture Ministry to compensate the farmers whose greenhouses were damaged.
