Meeting Mufti Hassoun, Zarif: Terrorism poses threat to the whole region

Tehran, SANA-Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Wednesday that the danger of the systematized terrorism is not only targeting Syria or Iraq, but it is a danger that poses a threat to the whole region.

Zarif, meeting Syria’s grand Mufti, Dr. Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, on the sidelines of the Islamic Unity Conference, described as deep and strategic the relations between Syria and Iran.

He called for intensifying military, political and intellectual efforts to tighten the grip around terrorism and take the region into a new era of security and stability.

Mufti Hassoun, for his part, affirmed the success of the Syrian-Iranian ties in all domains, thanking Iran for its support to Syria to keep its territorial integrity and national unity.

“Syria, through its struggle and alliance with friendly countries, has been able to achieve victory in spite of all attempts to divide it and sabotage its civilization,” the Mufti said.

Earlier, the 28th session of the International Conference on Islamic Unity kicked off in Tehran.
