More than 40 thousand hectares cultivated with wheat in Homs

Homs, SANA- Since the beginning of the current winter agricultural season till now, the areas planted with irrigated wheat in Homs province have reached more than 17,023 Hectares with an implementation rate of 95 percent, while more than 23,478 Hectares have been cultivated with rainfed wheat with an implementation rate of 97 percent.

Director of Homs Agriculture Department, Eng. Nazih al-Refaie, in a statement to SANA, affirmed that the areas planted with irrigated barely have reached up to 388 Hectares with an execution rate of 72 percent, while 36,170 Hectares have been cultivated with rainfed barely with an Implementation rate of 78 percent.

Al-Refaie added that broad bean has been planted over an area of 337 Hectares with an implementation rate of 92 percent, while the irrigated broad bean has been planted over an area of 459 Hectares with an execution rate of 98 percent.

The plan of the Agriculture Directorate in Homs for the current season at the levels of the areas, includes planting 41,982 Hectares with wheat, with an increase of 1,820 Hectares in comparison with the planned areas last year.
