Damascus, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday arrived in Damascus.
Upon arrival at Damascus International Airport, Lavrov was received by Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister Ayman Sousan and a number of officials at the Foreign Ministry, in addition to the Russian Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Efimov.
Lavrov is accompanied by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova during his visit.
On Sunday, a Russian official delegation, chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov, arrived in Damascus to hold talks with Syrian officials on developing and enhancing bilateral cooperation in different domains.
The Russian delegation will hold bilateral and economic talks with officials in Syria on Monday with the aim of completing the discussions of the Joint Syrian-Russian Committee for Trade, Economic, Technical and Scientific Cooperation which held its 12th meeting in Moscow in December last year co-chaired by al-Moallem and Borisov.
It is noteworthy that during the general meeting last year, the concluding protocol of the meeting was signed, in addition to signing a cooperation agreement in the domain of customs facilitations between the two countries.
