Sweida, SANA- Sweida Agriculture Directorate has primarily estimated that the production of olive oil in the province will reach about 1600 tons.
Assistant Director of the Agriculture Directorate Eng. Hussein Shuhaib, in a statement to SANA reporter, said that the production of the current season is good due to the abundant rainfalls that were available for the trees whose cultivation is concentrated in the western region of the province.
Shuhaib called on farmers to monitor the olive worm, the main scourge of the crop in the province, in order to work to control it to avoid the damage it causes and to ensure access to the estimated production.
The total areas planted with olive trees in the province is 10,022 hectares, and the total number of trees in them is 1.582 million trees, of which 1.348 million trees are fruitful.
