People’s Assembly Committee discusses budgets of Information, Transport Ministries

Damascus, SANA- Accounts and Budget Committee at the People’s Assembly discussed Sunday the investment budget of the Information Ministry for 2015 with 4.257 billion SYP amount.

During the meeting, members of the Committee called for offering financial and moral support to the national media and its cadres to confront the press war imposed against Syria.

They pointed out to the necessity of launching new satellite channels in different languages to broadcast the reality on what is going on in the country.

For his part, Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi affirmed that the national private and public media have been able, in spite of limited capabilities and big challenges, to accomplish their national duties with complete responsibility and honesty.

He added that the crisis, to which Syria is passing through, has proved that the Syrian media has a great number of national staff which enjoys national competence and experience to resume work and confront challenges and burdens.

In a relevant context, the committee discussed the budget of Transport Ministry for 2015 with 12.443.500 billion SYP amount.

Minister of Transport Ghazwan Kheir Beik pointed out to the losses and damages which affected this sector at the hands of armed terrorist organizations, adding that the damage has targeted the public roads, railways and bridges which made the railways transport out of service.

He referred to the huge challenges and difficulties that face the Syrian Airlines and civil aviation due to the unfair sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.
