Moscow stresses need for holding int’l conference to support the return of displaced Syrians

Moscow, SANA – Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nikolai Portsev stressed the need to speed up the holding of an international conference to support the return of displaced Syrians to their country.

Portsev’s remarks came at a meeting for the Russian-Syrian Joint Coordination Committee for the return of refugees.

He added that the conference should tackle governmental programs to facilitate the return of the displaced Syrians and measures to be taken to support the returnees.

Talks also will be held with representatives of the UN Higher Commissioner for Refugees at the headquarters of Russian ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs while in Moscow and discuss important issues on Syria.

Representative of the Russian National Defense Management Center Maj. Gen. Evgeny Ilyin said that more than 1,458 million displaced Syrians have returned to their homeland till now.
