Residents of Helfaya and Tibet al-Imam towns start returning to their homes

Hama, SANA – Governor of the central province of Hama Ghassan Khalaf stressed Sunday that the residents of the towns of Helfaya and Tibet al-Imam, over which the army established control few days ago, have started to return to their homes.

The army restored security and stability to the two towns after eliminating large numbers of terrorists, who had run over the towns and forced the residents to flee their homes.

Khalaf added that all concerned parties have received directives to operate maintenance and repair teams to rehabiliate electricity, communications and water infrastructure and repair the damage caused by the terrorists’ acts of vandalism so as to restore life back to normal in the two towns as soon as possible.

Director of Hama Electric Power Company Mohammad Raidi said that inspection of the damage to the power grid in Helfaya is underway, with primary estimates leading him to conclude that power will be restored to the town within the next two days.

Head of the Suran Electric Power Department Muawiya al-Omar said that work is underway to restore power to Tibet al-Imam, with maintenance due to be completed within a week.

Regarding drinking water, head of the General Establishment of Drinking Water in Hama Radwan al-Hassan said that water is currently available in parts of Helfaya and that work is underway to survey the damage to the water network and repair it as soon as possible.

For his part, head of Tibet al-Imam Town Council Jihad al-Sayyed Ahmad said that terrorists had been running amok in the town, and that they stole tractors and farm equipment and vandalized public and private properties, in addition to robbing homes.
