Shaaban stresses importance of setting up national work mechanism to rebuild the Syrian economy

Damascus, SANA – The 2nd day of “War on Syria, its repercussions and prospects” Conference discussed the future aspects to rebuild the Syrian economy and improve the living conditions of Syrian people.

The discussions focused on the means of assessing the financial and monetary policies over the past few years and lifting the constraints imposed on the Syrian economy in order to upgrade the industrial sector and rehabilitate terror-affected factories.

Presidential Political and Media Adviser Bouthaina Shaaban stressed the need to set up a national work mechanism to achieve good results that will positively reflect on the industrial and agricultural sectors.

In turn, Head of the British Syrian Society, Fawaz al-Akhras underlined the importance of facing the devastated impacts of the war waged on the country, particularly in the economic sector through reducing the negative effects of inflation and regulating exchange rates.

Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer al-Khalil said that the Ministry’s import policy is clear, adding that the materials allowed to be imported reached 3800 materials, 70% of which are production requirements and citizens’ basic goods in order to protect local production and halt the depletion of foreign currency reserve.

The two-day conference is organized by the British Syrian Society.
